When an alpha-fetoprotein screening is done to determine any small or large sized birth defects, for mothers holding twin fetuses, the levels measured, if higher than usual, can indicate twins.
On a physical level, Mothers and doctors will eventually discover the presence of two heartbeats in the womb.
And last, but not the least, the time-tested formula of an ultrasound will more than adequately state that you have a twin pregnancy, if that is the case.
